If you want to learn how to meditate to activate a particular kind of energy – say creative energy – through meditation techniques, it’s useful understand the chakra system. Chakras can be activated both with physical movements or by visualization.
Once you’ve learnt how to mediate, there are many different ways of activating the chakras and you will find as you develop awareness that you will modify and refine methods that work best for you.
Taking a physical approach to chakra awareness is a good way of switching off your mind. You concentrate on the movement so much that you forget everything else.
Chakra Shake-Out
If you need to use your creative imagination and communicate, activate your top three chakras – throat, third eye and crown. This exercise should be done quickly.
- Sit correctly and breathe easily. Focus attention on your blue throat chakra. Roll your head three times to the right and three times to the left.
- Focus on your indigo third eye chakra. Tilt your head to the side, stretching your neck as far as possible. Do the same thing in the other direction.
- Next focus your attention on your violet crown chakra. Snap your head twice to the left, then twice to the right; bend twice to the left, then twice to the right.
- Snap your bead twice backwards.
- Then nod twice, stretching your spine. Now you’re ready for work!
